Run to the Rez (RTTR) has always been about honoring all Veterans. Our motorcycle run started actually over 20 years ago with local riders from San Carlos, Globe, and Miami participating in the San Carlos Apache Tribe’s Veterans Day Parade usually held during the Saturday on or near Veterans Day in November. We had approximately 30 riders participate in the parade at that time.  Last year 2022 - there were more than 600 participants.

The Run was founded by a group of local riders-The Geronimo Riders-led by John Rezrider.  - from San Carlos who formally sponsored the first run which included a run and gathering on Coolidge Dam which holds San Carlos Lake. There has also been two runs to Point of Pines high up in the mountains of the San Carlos Apache Reservation.  The event to honor veterans has always been on Saturday morning of the Run. The RTTR consists of a run to the middle of the San Carlos Apache community. Riders gather at Snyder Burdette Hall to honor all veterans near and far. it is always a memorable event.

Over the years, RTTR has added a Thursday night early registration cookout for early arrivals. Friday night traditional dinner, blessing, and the upbeat Welcome Party in the convention Center.  On Saturday -our annual Bike Show, Poker Run, variety of bands all day, Biker Cookout, which concludes with a concert on Saturday night. For the past 13 years, the event has raffled a Harley Davidson Motorcycle from Superstition Harley Davidson from Apache Junction, Arizona.  This year 2023 will be no different.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the San Carlos Apache Veterans Association. Last year RTTR donated over $20,000 to veterans.. Over the years, RTTR has donated well over $150,000 to Veterans. We welcome you to this year’s event. See you there at the 2023 Run to the Rez. We are officially designated by the tribe as the early kick-off event leading to the San Carlos Veteran’s Day celebration in November.
